This is the fivepointchecklist `guide for buying laptops` according to your work preference. After reading this guide you'd be pretty much able to sort down best laptops under your budget.

-You can find out which brands provide you the best on your own, even though we're not going to go to the brands in this post.Detailed buying guide reviewing various brands are here if this is what you want but please read this quick guide first,so that you'll be more clear on what you want.

-Gain that extra knowledge that might come handy to you.

make sure you have checked the below list before buying your laptop.

1. storage drives

Technology has changed so much since the launch of early computers to the present sleek and shiny and fast laptops.but one thing that haven't changed in all these years is of course the very same old "Hard Disk Drives".

Now the problem with hard disk drives is that they have moving parts inside of it.

You might say hard disk lives for about a century but what about the noises that it makes and the slower speed at which it does the task.

The best way to get most out of your laptop is to offer it a new era `"Solid State Drive"`.
many times, the HDD is the only reason you might not see the speed and aspects of your laptop.
A Solid State Drive works 2 to 3 times more faster than HDD and not to forget the smooth performance that it provides without making any noise.

`A Solid State Drive is 4 times costly than HDD` and thats why i'd recommend-keep a 256 GB SSD with 1TB HDD so that you can get fast performance that you want and also have a bigger storage space for all your stuff.

now if you want to have a quick look about how much fast does an SSD work  please have a look at this video before you read further.

here are few solid state drives that are available in the market, take a look and compare the various prices.

2. Processor

A processor is the heart of the motherboard and if you want to know how fast you can get your tasks done, then you might wanna explore further more than just cores of the processor.

Majority of the laptops contains intel's processors. The intel core processors start from i3 to 19. i9 is the latest addition to this range.

Now when you are buying a laptop you wouldn't just see the names written plainly as i3 or i5 instead you'd find characters that follow along with the  core names.
Heres an example of i7 processor,

core i7-8650 u

now , the first digit after the core name represents the generation. That means in this case the processor is of 8th generation

Next after the generation number you'd see three digits that follow and  these numbers represent the power of the processor. The more big these 3 digits are the more powerful the processor would be.
The letters at the end describes the power of the processor.

For example- most gamers prefer a processor followed by 'k'.
'k' describes an unlocked processor that works at full clock-speed.

The laptops that are buget friendly mostly has processors following 'u'.

u- Ultra low processor

Now when you compare i3 - 4820 u  and i5-4820 u, the  i5 processor is just slightly fast than the i3.
Take a look at intel's guide for various terms used in processor name so that you have gathered all the basic knowledge of various types of intel core processors.

following are the best processors available in the market

3. Screen( display )

display plays a vital role in your laptop experirnce. Some of you might like a bigger screen and some of you are comfortable with average size.

The widely opted two displays are 13 inch and 15 inch displays.A 13 inch 1920*1080p display  will be better than 15 inch 1920*1080p display.

Here's how it works- In 13 inch 1920*1080p display you get more pixels that means you could see the icons more clearly.

A 15 inch might be bigger but has same 1920*1080p display so the icons are prone to be blurred in comparison to 13 inch one.

But again its not that much of a noticeable difference.Every budget laptop mostly comes with IPS display or an LED display in which case both of them are good.

4. Graphics

this is a general guide to buy a laptop and am not talking about gaming laptops.

so, i'll just stick to the graphics that most of us get to see in almost every budget laptop.
I'll be putting a laptop guide for our gamer friends also but that's for another time.

these are the most widely seen graphics among budget laptops

- Intel HD/UHD 620
-NVIDIA GeForce Mx150

If you are not a guy that plays a lot of game then an Intel HD 620 is suitable option for you and if you are a gamer and looking for gaming graphics in budget then opt for NVIDIA GeForce Mx150.

Again this is just a general guide.I'll be putting a post explaining all the available graphics cards in the market.

These are few laptops with above mentioned graphics, have a look at their features and if nesessary add them to your wishlist or favourites so that you can compare them with others while buying.

 5. weight

Weight of the laptop is an very important factor if you are a college student since you don't want to feel as if you are carrying something heavy with you.

A normal college laptop shouldn't feel heavier than 2kg and most of the budget laptops are around 2 to 2.5kg.But if you search more you'll also find many budget laptops that are worth buying and comes with a weight less than 2kg.
